Education, nutrition
Hello again,
Food is responsible for optimal energy
I see many people each week that suffer with low energy; they are either stressed, overworked, not sleeping properly or have what they feel is a slow metabolism. The one thing I find in common with the majority of all of these people is that they are lacking in nutrients.
I actually believe there are only three reasons why we get sick, and when I talk about getting sick, I also mean weight gain, stress, low energy, and cellulite and so on. Those three reasons are:
Number one – We think about getting sick
Number two – Lack of essential nutrients
Number three – Too much exposure to toxic chemicals
I can usually find a fault in one of these areas if I have a client with almost ANY health concern, I am not a doctor but I really do not need to be in this circumstance. As a health professional I can recommend more times than not where my clients need to increase or decrease in certain areas.
For this month as we are focusing on nutrition we are going to tackle reason number two of why people get sick and what you can do to reduce the risk of almost any ailment or disease and increase your overall vitality as a result.
Pete, why do I need to increase my nutrients?
Every cell in your body and you have about a trillion of them, requires nutrients, with proper nutrients going into your body you will add and multiply to your cells and give your body what it needs, a lack of nutrients means that your body will look elsewhere for energy and will find it within itself, hence turning on itself, this is not good news for you as the owner of that body!
So many people still think that a calorie reduction diet will help them to lose weight, and the conditioning of this is that you are burning more calories than you are consuming so your body will burn fuel. This is a terrible way of viewing your body, you are asking your body to eat itself away, and it can only access active tissue in this time so yes, you will burn fuel but only muscle, water, bone and so on, not the fuel you want to burn being fat! The other concern with this approach is that your body will store more fuel due to the lack of energy you are giving it and you store fuel as FAT. So to be harsh but honest, you must get away completely from reduced calorie diets to lose weight or to feel better; they have not and will never work.
For optimal wellbeing and energy levels, I want you taking an abundance of good vitamins and minerals into your body.
You will get the necessary vitamins and minerals your body needs by following the following points:
Eat a wide range of fruits and vegetables
Fruits and vegetables contain an array of what your body needs to function on a cellular level. Some super foods like broccoli, spinach and blueberries are packed full of antioxidants and can prevent heart disease, some cancers and other medical conditions.
As I have stated earlier in this course you want to be purchasing your fruits and vegetables from your local farm markets as they will have less chemicals like pesticides, herbicides and fungicides.
Get your essential fatty acids
Fat does not make you fat! You need you essential fatty acids for numerous roles in the body including metabolic processes and actually grabbing hold of bad cholesterol “low density lipoprotein” and transporting it back to the liver where it can be processed and excreted from the body, this is good news when fighting weight issues and heart disease.
Essential fatty acids are found in fish oils, flaxseed and nuts and seeds. When looking at the fat content of your food, look for the type of fats that are in the food. For example I always look for monounsaturated fat as this is the healthiest of the fat family.
For protein look to white skinless meats and fish
If you are not a vegetarian then there are several choices for getting your variety of protein. You do require plenty of protein and many of us actually overloaded with carbohydrates but not taking enough proteins into the body to rebuild.
Take GOOD supplements
I cannot stress enough the importance of supplementation for good wellness. Many people still believe that you can get the required nutrients just from everyday good nutrition.
For the majority of us with modern day lifestyles this statement is far from true. Your body requires nutrients and a wide variety of them as well, from vitamins to minerals, you need and require the full range.
When purchasing supplements please remember that you get what you pay for. There are many supplements out there and it can be confusing as to what supplements you need and what supplements are a waste of time.
For me personally, I use a good multivitamin combined with zinc, magnesium, aloe vera and milk thistle.
I am not saying that is exactly what you also need, but I want you to remember this, if you are taking a supplement, do you feel better by taking it? In other words, are you feeling the benefits, or are you just taking a very expensive trip to the restroom.
Research your minerals and vitamin companies before you buy. You can do this on Google by searching keywords such as supplementation, comparative vitamin guidelines and vitamin research.
Remember there are foods that will add to you and foods that will subtract from you
As I see food as fuel and I also encourage all of my clients to see food as fuel, I ask myself the simple question of “is the food I am about to eat going to benefit me or take away from me?”
It is simple way of making good decisions when it comes to what I put in my mouth.
I want you to be creative when it comes to your food. As I have said on this course before, you must have a good strategy for your body and treat it like a business. No business would want to ingest anything into it if it were to make the business lose money. The same principles for your body.
Take it seriously and take immediate action!
Next week I am going to share with you some of my TOP TIPS for good nutrition. Until then, have a great week and I will chat to you in seven days.
Your guide to health.
Pete
